Speakers
Jennifer Morris is a patient safety advocate and healthcare user representative. Her focus is on bringing patient and community perspectives to decision-making in healthcare. Her areas of interest include gender bias in healthcare delivery, diagnostic error, and how the system responds to harmed patients and patient harm events. In 2024, she was inducted into the Victorian Honour Roll of Women for her outstanding contribution to patient safety advocacy.
Prof Stacy Carter is Professor of Empirical Ethics in Health and Founding Director of the Australian Centre for Health Engagement, Evidence and Values (ACHEEV). Her training is in public health, and her expertise is in applied ethics and social research methods. Her research program sits at the intersection of three crucial issues for health systems: Using artificial intelligence, screening and diagnosis, and high-quality consumer and community engagement and participation.
Dr Yves Saint James Aquino is a doctor and philosopher of medicine working as a research fellow at the Australian Centre for Health Engagement, Evidence and Values (ACHEEV). His research interests include ethics of artificial intelligence, research ethics, and ethics of cosmetic surgery.
Dr Anthony Brown is the CEO of Health Consumers NSW, the peak body for patient and health consumers in NSW. Before joining HCNSW, Anthony was the Manager of the Men’s Health Information and Resource Centre at Western Sydney University, where he led research projects investigating the social determinants of men’s and boys’ health, as well as men’s engagement with health, community, and aged care services. His PhD thesis explored the engagement of retired men with their communities.
