Sarah is an experienced not-for-profit leader with more than ten years in senior leadership roles in community organisations and registered charities. She believes in working with the person behind the patient, and that their experiences and circumstances should be at the forefront of treatment decisions.

Adrian was nominated for our Board by the Stroke Foundation in October 2024. He has experience in advisory boards and research and is the Lead Educator and Peer Facilitator at the Physical Disability Council of NSW (PDCNSW). As a Person with Disability for 18 years, Adrian offers a unique perspective to our Board.

Jane Mears has over 3 decades of experience, working, teaching and creating professional courses in community welfare and social work in Western Sydney. Her research is in the areas of caring, disability, ageing and violence against women.

Louise is a long-time health consumer advocate and parent of a young adult with severe cerebral palsy. She has served on the Family and Consumer Council for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Network.

Chronic Pain Australia nominated Kimberley to join our Board in October 2024. She is a Pain Group Facilitator, Consumer Advocate, and a mum to three gorgeous kids with special needs.

Priscilla was nominated by Positive Live NSW to join our Board in October 2024. For her, improving health and wellbeing outcomes for health consumers in NSW is all about ensuring access and meaningful participation in the healthcare systems and services that impact their lives.

Nominated by the Association for the Wellbeing of Children in Healthcare (AWCH), Elizabeth ‘Lizzy’ is the consumer organisation’s CEO. Lizzy has committed much of her personal and professional life over the past 30 years to improving healthcare. A key part of her role at AWCH is to advocate for the needs of children, young people and their families in the healthcare system.

Murray is a Deputy Chair of Health Consumers NSW and has worked on a voluntary basis for the Cancer Council of NSW on the NSW Central Coast, focusing on policy and advocacy and on representation of health consumers in the NSW health system.

Nominated by the Stroke Recovery Association NSW, John is a stroke survivor. He is also a Board member of the Stroke Recovery Association. John has held many senior management positions including NSW WorkCover Authority, Deputy Chairperson of the NSW Sporting Injuries Committee and as Principal Policy Officer – Strategic Policy and Reform Unit in the Premier’s Department. John is a volunteer patient for medical students at the University of Notre Dame and the School of Physiotherapy at Newcastle University. He is passionate about sailing and volunteers for Sailability. John’s vision for Health Consumers NSW is a united team effort to provide a voice for patients’ and their families’ and carers’ in the NSW health system.
