Health Consumers NSW
Hours 45 – 75 (fulltime) hours / fortnight – to be negotiated with successful applicant.
$41.89 – $52.55 per hour plus super
We are looking for a highly motivated, creative person to join our small and dynamic team. You will be responsible for helping us develop and expand our work to involve health consumers (patients and their families) in the design, delivery and governance of health and medical research in NSW.
You will have had experience in engaging service users in research and/or service settings. And will ideally have experience as a researcher or consumer representative in research or health services.
Strategic Partnership with Sydney Health Partners
The successful applicant will be lead person for HCNSW in our strategic partnership with Sydney Health Partners. HCNSW and Sydney Health Partners are working together to increase the capacity of researchers and consumers to work together within health and medical research.
The first stage of this partnership involved a scoping review and needs assessment of consumer and community involvement across Sydney Health Partners. This review has informed a series of recommendations about how HCNSW and SHP can foster new connections to guide the development of infrastructure and resources that support wider consumer involvement in health research.

The partnership with HCNSW has also resulted in pilot training sessions for consumers and researchers alike to improve collaboration and better equip both groups to support consumer involvement in health research.
The person will also be involved in building strategic partnerships with stakeholders from across NSW. This will include pursuing business opportunities for HCNSW.
Occasional work on weekends and after hours will be required. The position will involve some travel around NSW and interstate.
This position is for an initial 48 months contract. Ongoing employment and salary increases will be awarded based on achieving mutually agreed KPIs.
Flexible working arrangements can be negotiated, including working from home. The successful candidate could work from home from anywhere in NSW but will be required to attend regular meetings in Sydney.
