We want to have our say in the decision-making processes about our own health and on the policies about the health system. We want to be heard and to be involved as advocates, as representatives, as partners.

Health Consumers NSW (HCNSW) is a membership-based, independent, charity. We provide a voice for patients, their family members and carers, patient leaders and health consumer representatives in NSW. This makes us the number one, independent think-tank in health consumer engagement in NSW.
We also represent health consumer organisations representing specific disease and population groups.
We facilitate engagement. Our purpose is to inspire and lead health consumers to drive genuine, positive change across health systems, policies, services and research.
We have established a state-wide network of health consumer representatives. We work hard to support and widen this network every day. This is a community of advocates with the passion and knowledge to shape healthcare and health and medical research in NSW for the benefit of patients, carers and their families.
We believe that all perspectives are important to create better health outcomes for people. We also advise health services and researchers on how to embed health consumer engagement in their work.
Consumer engagement and co-design lead to better health outcomes, more efficient and effective services and research, consumer-centred care and happier patients and staff.
We work to ensure that the NSW health system is the best it can be.
